Raising £400,000 will fund the purchase of 4 self-contained flats. Assuming average 12-month tenancies over a 25-year period, this could help up to 100 people return to independent living – a major step in restoring their self-esteem.
Our crowd funding campaign seeks to mobilise the town, reaching out to all residents and businesses, alongside applications for grants and donations from charitable organisations, private estates, and lottery funds.
We have selected an exempt charity, Southdown Housing Association (L1829) as our delivery partner. They have the expertise and resources to provide essential personal support needed to help people return to independent living. Southdown has given the project a huge boost by agreeing to double* all the monies we raise.
A virtuous circle: We pledge that all monies raised will alleviate homelessness in Eastbourne. We intend making a capital grant into a restricted fund which Southdown will match* and invest to purchase property. Southdown will additionally fund all refurbishment required. In the unlikely event that this plan is disrupted for any reason, all monies received will be donated to charitable organisations supporting homeless people in Eastbourne.
* Southdown’s pledge to ‘double’ or ‘match’ fund donations made applies to our target of £400,000.
